Measure Minimum Distance of Vertical Wells

This tool is useful to calculate minimum distance from surrounding vertical wells. It’s very helpful to estimate well spacing, especially when you have many wells. The idea is to measure the distance between wells from their X-Y path locations. This tool will search the well within given radius of search, this to speed up the search process.

Tool To Convert Hourly Production Data To Daily Data

If you have big daily production data, sometime it can take your time to convert them to daily production using Excel Average function.

There is an easier way to do this is using the capability of Ms. Excel to do array calculations. This calculation is marked by curly brackets “{}”. You can find an example converting hourly data to daily in this tool. If you want to convert your daily data to monthly or yearly you can use Convert Daily to Monthly tool which has been posted earlier.

Hint: When editing an array formula press Shift & Ctrl buttons (don’t release them yet) then hit Enter to apply.

This video comes from Chesapeake Energy that demonstrates how hydraulic fracturing works in unconventional reservoir. The purpose of fracturing the shale formation is to maximize production potential of the well. The material used in fracturing is a mixture of water and proppant, usually sand. This mixture of liquid and sand is pumped in to the newly created perforation and shale formation.

Vertical depth ranges from 9,000-13,000 ft. Horizontal section length is about 3,000 ft.

Barrel of Oil Equivalent (BOE) is used by oil and gas firms in their financial statements as a method of combining oil and natural gas reserves and production into a single measure.

According to USGS, one BOE is roughly equivalent to 6,000 cubic feet (170 cubic meters) of typical natural gas. In short, 1 BOE = 6 MCF or 1 MBOE = 6 MMCF or 1 MMBOE = 6 BCF.
