Petroleum Goodies: X-ray Diffraction |
Posted: 12 May 2011 10:00 AM PDT X-ray Diffraction (XRD): A method for the semi quantitative mineralogical study of a sample of rock by measuring the diffraction peaks in X-rays diffracted by the sample. The position of the diffraction peaks is a measure of the length between discrete crystallographic diffracting planes within minerals, while their intensity indicates the quantity of the mineral. Commonly used in formation evaluation. Similar Posts: |
